The story was originally written in French in 1996 and published in French and German in 2003 by Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt (Berlin), at this occasion of the exhibition DisOrientations. This online version adding an Arabic and English version was created in 2009.

Ici et peut-être ailleurs was originally the story of the disappearance of a man, Wahid Saleh, during the Lebanese war in June 1986 in Beirut .The day of his disappearance and probable murder is recounted by five protagonists: Ziad, a snipper ; Oumna an old woman; Nabil K, a milicia man; Zahi, an old man; Wahid Saleh, the dead himself. Each one of them admits his/her responsibility in the killing of Wahid and tells the narrator/ inquirer his/her own version of the dramatic event. Freely inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s film Rashomon, illustrated by photographs, this short fiction is a reflection on History and relative truth, as well as on the responsibility of each one of us.
